Achieving The Perfect Button Nose

By Jessy Thomas

Have you ever looked into a mirror and thought that your nose could have been better shaped? Well, you are not alone; millions of people the world over have body image issues that they wish they could easily sort out. Fortunately, medical expert have come up with new procedures that can help you correct, reshape or redesign any part of your body.

Most Caucasians are not comfortable with the shapes of their noses, so they are the biggest clients of rhinoplasty clinics. Rhinoplasty is a type of surgery that is performed to reshape and/or resize a human nose. It has gained popularity over the years and is among the most sought after procedures, especially in developed countries.

This procedure is performed under local or regional anaesthesia, where only the area around the nose will be numbed and you will be able to watch as the procedure takes place. You can also choose to sleep through the procedure, under general anaesthesia. Either way, no pain will be felt until the drugs wear off.

As with skinning a cat, there are many methods that can be employed to give you the desired nose shape and size. You can have some of the bone removed from the nose to give you a slimmer nose and reduce the hump at the top. You can also have cartilage carved off from the tip of the nose to round it up a little.

Lastly, the septum (piece of skin separating the nostrils) can be trimmed to alter the angle of your nose. All of these procedures involve separating the skin from the bone and cartilage as the first step. After the procedure is done, you might have to spend several days with a splint attached to your nose to ensure that the bones heal correctly.

Your nose will be red, puffy and itchy for several days, but try to ignore the urge to scratch it. Rhinoplasty is a procedure that has been performed on hundreds and thousands of people the world over and it should go well for you, if you have the right surgeon performing it.
