Three Great Ab Workouts You Should Do

By Frank Porras

Whether you jog, join a gym or buy an exercise machine, ab workouts are something most people who are interested in fitness think about. In most cases, an abdominal area's health is a major indicator into a person's overall health. The truth is that it is actually more complicated than that but nobody will blame you for wanting abs that is better toned. In this article we will explain some of the ab workouts that you should think about adding to your exercise repertoire.

Some of the very best ab workouts won't even require you to leave your house to get them done. Using a bicycle is an example of these. Obviously there are benefits to be gained from bicycle riding and there are stationary bicycles at the gym but it is possible to do an effective copy cat exercise at home that simply mimics the motion of pedaling. Just lie down on your floor or (better) on an exercise mat. Put your hands behind your head and keep your knees at a forty five degree angle and copy the pedaling motion that you would do on a bicycle while touching one knee to the opposing elbow. Do this exercise slowly at first, and you can gradually build up speed and the number of repetitions you do.

Everybody has heard of doing crunches as part of an ab workout and, if you do them on a medicine ball, you'll get better results because your range of movement is really enhanced while you are on the ball. A medicine ball is about the size of a soccer ball and is weighted you can find them in the gym but don't mix them up with larger stability balls (that also have some good uses). You can also do plank exercises on the medicine ball which is where you put your hands on the ball and hold your body in the up part of the push up position. If you're unfamiliar with these types of exercises, however, you should practice them on a mat before doing them on a medicine ball.

Sit-ups are probably the best known ab workout you can do, and they may also be the most hated. The biggest problem with sit-ups is the number of them that you have to do to get the results you want. A much better alternative these days is to use a machine that will mimic the same movement but is much more efficient. There are different ab machines that will mimic the sit up motion but give you better support and a bigger range of motion which makes this exercise safer and more effective at the same time. Some of these machines have the name ab chair but there are different machines available as well. What takes you a long time to do naturally can be done in just a few minutes with one of these machines.

To sum up, plenty of people worry about working the abs, they worry more about this than any other types of workouts. However, it's best to focus on doing some proven workouts on a regular basis, along with eating a healthy and moderate diet. No ab workout in existence is perfect or will give you immediate results. The only way to get your ideal physique is to be patient and put in some hard work. Set short term as well as long term goals for yourself, so you're able to appreciate the progress you're making.

Furthermore, by utilizing some sort of gym equipment like Foam Roller within your fitness regimen, it can help boosts your exercises much easier as well as to ensure a much healthy in a rapid way. As long as you keep learning, you will naturally move into other areas. What matters most is that you exercise at least a few times every week to help relieve back pain.
