Warts On Your Feet - 7 Popular Techniques To Erase Them

By Sean T Saunders

Warts which appear on the skin are caused by the human papilloma virus infection. The HPV viral infection is very common as it is highly contagious. Nearly 40 percentage of people all over the world are suffering from this viral infection. The human virus lives under the skin layers feeding on the food obtained from the blood vessels. Feet is one region where warts appear more frequently and the type of warts which is noticed here is called plantar warts. There are numerous ways that you could use to get rid of warts on feet effectively. Plantar warts are very contagious as the HPV virus thrives in hot humid environments like locker rooms and the skin layers from the feet are shed very easily. There are many other foot problems such as callouses and corns that may look similar, however you could easily differentiate plantar warts from them. Plantar warts look like tiny cauliflowers that are covered with numerous small black spots. There are two basic ways to get rid of warts on feet; medical treatment and home treatment. In the following article we will look at these two methods and their effectiveness and cost.

1. Surgical Wart Removal - There are three types of surgery which are effective to get rid of warts on feet. They are cryosurgery, electrosurgery and laser surgery. All of these methods necessitate visits to the doctor's office or medical care facility and they could be expensive and painful. We'll look at the three types in a bit more detail.

2. Cryosurgery for Warts - In this method of surgery the doctor will apply liquid nitrogen to the wart using an applicator with a cotton tip or with a spray tip. Wart tissue gets frozen by this treatment and cases a blister under it that could be removed easily at a later stage. It can be quite painful but this method usually does not leave scars.

3. Electrosurgery Wart Removal - Electrosurgery is yet another surgical treatment method that is very often used to get rid of warts on feet. This method involves inserting a needle into the wart and then passing an electrical current through it to burn the wart off. This method can leave minor scars on the foot.

4. Nuke Your Warts - Your last choice for really stubborn warts should be laser surgery. It is extremely effective at removing warts on a permanent basis but it could leave scarring. The two big drawbacks to laser surgery are the high expense and the pain involved in the surgery.

5. Home Wart Remedies - Salicylic acid is the main ingredient in many over the counter pharmaceutical products that are used to get rid of warts on feet. Plantar warts could be removed in about a month using this product at home. The acid present in these creams softens and dissolves the hard wart tissue.

6. Tape Your Warts - A very simple solution for removal of plantar warts from your feet is to use a duct tape. Just cut a small piece of duct tape, slightly bigger than the size of your wart and secure it firmly over the wart tissue. Keep this in place for about 5-7 days. Then remove the tape and soak your feet in hot water. Using any kind of abrasive material such a pumice stone, scrape the dead wart tissue until it is completely removed. Keeping a piece of garlic clove under the duct tape could also be beneficial because the oil from the garlic will soften tissue and destroy the virus.
