Organic Skin Care Products Are The First Choice Of Many Consumers

By Kerri Turner

Skin health is a valid concern for many consumers. However, it can be quite challenging to select the best cream or lotion when there is such a broad range of options from which to choose on today's health and beauty market. Organic skin care products are highly appealing to numerous individuals.

Most people are exposed to various chemicals on a daily basis. Although much of this exposure is unavoidable, a high percentage of it comes from items that consumers purchase on a regular basis. For this reason, if organic formulas can be found, many individuals feel that it is in their best interest to avail themselves of such products.

The surface of an individual's skin has been dubbed the "third kidney". This is because one of its primary functions is to eliminate many of the aforementioned pollutants from a person's body. For this reason, appropriate care of this complicated organ is a vital consideration for virtually everyone.

Natural lotions and creams can be found in numerous forms. These include formulas that help to lessen the appearance of wrinkles to those that reduce the frequency of acne breakouts. There are also special options, such as toners, masks and combination blends that feature both sunscreen and a moisturizer. Consumers can also select a formula that is specially designed for certain areas, such as lip moisturizers or eye creams.

Products that are categorized as natural offer similar benefits to traditional brands. However, they do not contain the additives and chemicals used in most conventional blends. This is because such ingredients can be hazardous to one's health as well as to the environment, causing many individuals to shun creams and lotions of this type in lieu of organic alternatives.

Natural brands are also usually hypoallergenic. In most instances, such blends do not cause the irritations and rashes that are sometimes seen with conventional creams and lotions. However, an allergic reaction to any brand is always a possibility, and therefore if a person discovers that a specific cream is irritating, he or she should select another product.

Numerous individuals wonder what they can do to ensure that the product they choose is actually organic. It is unfortunate, but the labeling of cosmetics is not regulated, meaning manufacturers have the option of being somewhat vague when printing the product's ingredient list. In general, however, cosmetic companies should try to follow the same regulations that must be followed by those who manufacture food. This means that skin care blends that are touted as organic should contain less than five percent synthetic ingredients.

Certain manufacturers of such creams are also concerned with the environment. For this reason, they use recyclable material in which to package their product line. This helps to reduce waste and pollution and also helps to lower the cost of production, as is typically the case when recycled materials are utilized.

More and more consumers will likely opt for all-natural skin formulas in the future. As mentioned earlier, however, allergic reactions can potentially occur with any new product. For this reason, if skin irritations such as rashes occur, the consumer should stop using the formula immediately. Additionally, speaking with a dermatologist prior to using any new organic skin care products is a wise course of action.
