Basics of Hypertensive Disease And Its Prevention

By Ramella Knoll

I would like to mention that the graph of the number of persons prone to be affected with hypertensive disease is heading northwards recently. Therefore the disease is one of the main causes of either fatality or for aggravation of other diseases of the body. There is a possibility that coronary heart disease also may inflict in majority of the cases where Hypertensive disease is noticed.

Nonobservance of healthy food habits coupled with the lifestyle of modern day society fraught with stressful and mounting tension both at home and otherwise might push the disease. Physical activity is ignored due to paucity of time and on the other hand, stressful competition deteriorates the health conditions. However, if you could observe some basic healthy food habits and monitor your health with periodical medical tests, you can avoid or postpone onset of the disease if you notice any alarming parameters.

The root cause for the ischemic heart diseases where the heart muscles need to supply more oxygen to avoid 'burn out' condition, is high blood pressure which is triggered by the disease. In the process of supplying blood to the heart and brain, the entire mechanism gets stressed out which results in swollen legs. To avoid the abnormality of the condition, the left ventricle feels the stress and therefore the incendiary heart disease tries to set in.

Due to shortage of supply of oxygen to the vital organs of the body, the normal functionality may be affected in more than one way. Similarly, the hard-pressed heart in trying to pump more blood to the organs might cause irregular heartbeat and also pulse rate and this is likely to cause more disorders in functions of the body.

Everyone in the middle age group should undergo the simple tests which do not cost much to ensure that the parameters are within the range. You may begin with a simple ECG and if required opt for an echo cardiogram. Depending upon these parameters, further tests like stress test, CT scan, calcium-score heart scan or coronary CT angiography may be recommended. In certain cases, perhaps, you may have to undergo the heart MRI to know the functioning of the heart from outside. To get a sample of the fluid in the heart, Pericardiocentesis is also done.

I emphasize that depending upon the condition of the patient, the doctor may suggest angioplasty, bypass or a pacemaker to ensure regular rhythm of the heart beat, but you avoid the treatment if you add more vegetables, fish and soya protein in your daily health food to ensure absence of blood clots reducing the chances for hypertensive disease and thereby reduce the hypertensive disease problems.
