How to Have a Whiter, Brighter Smile

By Sabriel S Lacey

We all want our smiles to be as gorgeous and healthy as possible. Although we might intellectually understand that a bleached white smile isn't altogether natural, we appreciate how superb it looks. The reality is that a white smile is definitely more beautiful than one that has yellow undertones or is stained, and so on. Oral health is something on which every one of us is judged. Don't lie; you do it also. This means, then, that you should work on keeping your smile as white as possible. Use these suggestions to help yourself.

Make sure that you brush your teeth a minimum of two times per day and for at least two minutes each time. A quick brush in the morning and once again at night won't cut it. Get a good electric toothbrush like the Rotadent brush and use it for a minimum of 30 seconds on each quadrant of your mouth. This guarantees that you are really brushing the front the back and the tops of the teeth and your gums too. It helps you see to it that more than just the topmost layer of gunk is brushed away from your teeth as well.

There really is such a thing as too much teeth whitening. Today the majority of toothpastes have a whitener built into them. When you use these in addition to the whitening trays and other bleachers out there you can end up overdoing it. You may even notice that your teeth, especially around the edges, have a blue coloring. This is a clear sign that it is time to stop the teeth whitening for a while! You have to pick out a gentle whitener as well. Harsh whiteners can eat away the enamel on your teeth and do more harm than good. Your teeth might become whiter but they'll become more likely to have cavities also. Watch out!

On top of the whiteness of your smile, you're also judged on the freshness of your breath. This means that you must make sure that you are taking steps to keep your breath fresh as well as keeping your teeth white. Your tongue offers a great place for bacteria to hide and fester. This results in awful smelling breath, especially later in the day. Buy a good tongue scraper and use it. It is important to see to it that you're using it right. Make sure you don't over scrape; two or three good swipes should be sufficient. Follow it up with a good mouthwash so your mouth is as clean and fresh smelling as possible for as long as possible.

Floss your teeth! Wait, let's say that one more time: floss! Yes, flossing is irritating and tough and, at times, painful. You still have to floss. Today there are all sorts of flossing helpers that can help you get the job done faster and easily (such as the flossing sticks you'll find at the pharmacy) Flossing is very important since even the very best mouthwashes and electric places are unable to reach the places that floss can reach. Floss at least once every day so that you can get everything out from between your teeth and around your gum lines. This helps your mouth continue to be healthy which means it stays white and shiny.

I wish you the best of luck!
